In today’s short news I’m reporting new releases of two great Linux apps, Audacious audio player and Pinta image editor.
Audacious is a fast, open source audio player. A decendant of XMMS, Audacious focuses on high audio quality and low system resource usage and it ships with numerous plugins for various purposes, such as effects, visualisation, desktop integration and more. The player ships with a GTK and a Winamp 2.x-like interface and, with the latest version, a new Qt interface.
With the new release 3.6 the developers decided to switch back to GTK2 by default.

Pinta, a free, open source drawing / image editing program, was updated to version 1.6 today, bringing redesigned new image dialog and shape tools, a new community add-in repository, along with over 50 bug fixes and other changes.
