KDE developer PointiestStick published a non-official roadmap for 2020 that includes some pretty amazing changes to look forward for.

These features are almost guaranteed to happen soon, because they are already under development:

  • FUSE mounts to better support accessing remote locations in non-KDE apps
  • Privilege escalation in KIO and Dolphin
  • Improved Samba share discovery in Dolphin
  • Auto-rotation for tablets, convertibles, and other hardware with rotation sensors

Breeze, Plasma, and KDE apps UI changes

Not guaranteed, but very likely the devs are going to refresh some of the UI of the KDE desktop. Seems like it is going to get a new simple menu, along with a new polished Breeze theme.
